A delegation from the French Development Agency (AFD) is visiting Suriname to carry out a needs analysis of the Marwina (Albina) hospital with a team of health experts from 17 April to 21 April in order to ensure its full functioning in cooperation with the Surinamese authorities.
The delegation met with the Minister of Health, Amar Ramadhin, and the French Ambassador to Suriname and Guyana, Nicolas de Lacoste, to discuss their analyses and the issues identified.
This project led by the French Development Agency aims to improve access to quality health care for people living in the Marowijne district (eastern Suriname). Building on the existing partnership with the Centre hospitalier de l’ouest guyanais (CHOG), located on the other side of the Maroni River, France’s engagement with Suriname paves the way for the development of a common approach to health issues in the region.
