Official Launch of the Interreg Amazon Cooperation Program
The Interreg Amazon Cooperation Program (PCIA) for 2014-2020 was officially launched October 13, 2016 in Cayenne at the meeting of the first monitoring committee chaired by Mr. Rodolphe Alexandre, President of the Territorial Collectivity of Guyane which is the managing authority of the program.This meeting was attended by representatives of the European Union, the French government services in French Guiana and Cariforum, as well as by those states involved in the program: Suriname, Guyana, Amapa, Para, Amazonas and by the Ambassador delegated to the regional cooperation Antilles-Guyane and the Ambassador of France to Suriname and Guyana.
The effective implementation of the program continued on October 14th by the meeting of the selection committee which reviewed the first projects eligible for funding from this program.
The PCIA which has 18.9 M € ERDF European funds, is intended to promote cooperation projects with neighboring countries of French Guiana or located in the Guiana Shield in 4 priority areas: transport, biodiversity and natural and cultural heritage, health and social issues, business competitiveness. The monitoring and selection committees meet at least once a year.
