French presence at the celebrations of the fiftieth anniversary of the independence of Guyana (May 26th)
A detachment of 15 personnel of the Maintenance Company (CM) of the Armed Forces in French Guyana visited Guyana at the invitation of the Guyana Armed Forces to be present at the ceremonies of the fiftieth anniversary of the country’s independence. On this occasion, the Ambassador of France and the non-resident defense attaché offered on May 24th a reception attended by Guyanese officials, representatives of the diplomatic corps, members of the French community and representatives from various sectors of the Guyanese society.
The Ambassador of France and French military officials were received by the Chief of Staff of the Guyana Armed Forces on May 25th before participating at the flag-raising ceremony and other events attended by the Head of State and members of the Guyanese government.
On this occasion coming to Georgetown has now become regular for the officers and personnel of the Armed Forces of French Guyana . It highlights the relations established between the two military forces and allows useful technical exchanges within the framework of a cooperation that strengthens the Guiana Shield.
